Professor Schuler's research emphasizes both the planning, management and pricing of infrastructure efficiently and analysis of impact on regional economy and the environment. As an example, he is constructing and conducting experiments on alternative structures of deregulated electricity markets to enhance efficiency, mute the exercise of market power, sustain reliability and encourage needed investment. Professor Schuler has previously served as an engineer and manager with an electric utility, was deputy chairman of NYS public service commission and currently serves on the board of the NYISO.
